Patagonia

It’s hard to believe, but I have been working professional in the outdoors for more than 30 years.

First, as an instructor and coach in the outdoor education industry, and then as a cameraman specialising in natural history and adventure film making. Throughout the years I’ve worn a lot of different outdoor clothing, from pretty much every manufacturer. Be it climbing, skiing, canoeing or humping camera gear into the wilds, the right kit can make the difference between a good day or a bad one.

One company I’ve been lucky enough to have had a long association with is Patagonia. This legendary brand, founded by the American big wall climber Yvon Chouinard in 1970, not only produces outstanding technical outdoor clothing, but has set the standard for ethical and environmentally conscious businesses. Amongst many other practices, Patagonia commits one percent of sales or ten percent of profits, whichever is the greater to environmental causes.
